The biggest challenge avoiding women to step up for themselves and take responsibility for their growth is harmful traditional practices. In most cultures around the world, women are still considered inferior as compared to their male counterparts; this has led to the development of inferiority complex in most women. When women think low of themselves, their desires to step up and take responsibilities for their growth would be dwindled.
I would say that the biggest challenge for women is that they are not given the proper resources throughout life. They are not given the necessary education on matters of finance and managing businesses. Women are very rarely ever given much responsibility over their own lives and aspirations, especially if they become married. In many instances of marriage the savings will tend to be managed by the husband and this leads to women having fewer assets to use for bank loans. Women being socialised into the stay at home role has affected women's ability to create social circles dedicated to running businesses, and even when they do find these social circles they are mainly full of men and women tend to feel ostracized. The issue starts from a very young age of female socialisation that holds women back in terms of their education of handling money and businesses.
